PDF to PowerPoint — Reuse It as Presentation Material

To use material received as a PDF in a talk, you need to move it onto slides. This tool places each page as an image sized to the slide and makes a PPTX file.

On top of that, turning on "include text boxes" lays the characters extracted from the page over their original positions as text boxes. You can fix wording or copy it to another slide.

This approach has the advantage that the original layout shows as-is, but the background is an image, so you can't edit the background itself. It's best to know what does and doesn't work before using it.

Limits of this tool

  • Each page goes in as an image. The background image itself can't be edited in the slide.
  • Turning on text boxes can overlap the image's characters. If needed, delete the background image.
  • The slide size is based on the first page, so a document with mixed page sizes may be off in places.
  • Converting a document with many pages at high resolution makes the file large and takes a while.

How to use

  1. 1

    Select a PDF

Upload the document to make slides from. The first page size becomes the slide size.

  2. 2

    Choose options

Pick the image resolution and whether to include text boxes.

  3. 3

    Download the PPTX

A standard file that opens in PowerPoint, Google Slides, and LibreOffice is created.

Key features

  • Layout as-is

Placing pages as images means the original arrangement and design show exactly.

  • Editable-text option

Lay extracted characters over their original positions as text boxes so wording can be edited.

  • Resolution choice

Adjust image quality for on-screen talks vs. printing to manage file size.

  • Automatic slide size

Uses the original page ratio so images aren't squashed or cropped.

When to use it

  • A report into presentation material

Move the pages of a PDF report onto slides as a base for a presentation.

  • Quoting material

Quote a specific page from another document onto a slide as-is.

  • Reworking meeting material

Pull just the needed pages from several PDFs to compose new presentation material.

How are your files handled?

Page rendering and PPTX creation both happen in your browser. The document is never sent to a server.

Selected files open only in your browser's memory, and results are handed straight to your device when you save. Close the tab and any remaining data is gone with it. See the Privacy Policy and File Retention Policy for details.

PDF → PowerPoint FAQ

Can I edit the text?
Turn on "include text boxes" to edit the extracted characters. Since the same characters are also in the background image and overlap, it's cleaner to delete the background image when editing.
The file is too big.
Convert again at a lower resolution. With many pages, you can also cut just the needed part with Split PDF before converting.
Does it open in Google Slides?
It's standard PPTX, so you can open it via import in Google Slides.
