There are many reasons a PDF won't open. If only the cross-reference table at the end of the file is broken, reconstruction has a good chance of saving it, but if data was cut off during transfer, missing content can't be invented.
Repair is a "you only know once you try" task, so success can't be promised. We're starting with a step that diagnoses and reports the kind of damage.
